25 before 26

So, I'm turning 25 in less than a week. Instead of feeling happy and excited to celebrate my quarter life milestone and the ability to rent a car, I feel like a boring old maid who hasn't accomplished anything in my 25 years on earth. Of course, I know that's not right. I have accomplished plenty, if I think about it. My negativity is simply getting the best of me. This past year alone, among other accomplishments, I planned a wedding, married my best friend and best person I have ever known, finally got a job I like, and got a spazzy puppy. I've grown up a lot this past year, and I am happier than I have been in a long time.

I have a lot of plans and goals for myself (sometimes too many). Stephanie at The Loudmouth inspired me to write a list of 25 things I want to accomplish before I turn 26. I wrote them all down and was going to post a photo like she did, but I'll spare you the eyesore and confusion of my handwriting.

Victoria's magical 25 before 26:

  1. De-clutter my life (closets, drawers, basement)
  2. Move to a more spacious place
  3. Get on a regular sleep schedule
  4. Go to the doctor/dentist (even without insurance... ugh)
  5. Run a 5k! Hopefully The Color Run.
  6. Go grocery shopping with Joel (more) regularly. (Fun fact: I HATE grocery shopping)
  7. Plan weekly menus ahead of time so grocery shopping might suck less
  8. Go to Cedar Point!
  9. Go camping with friends
  10. Be involved in theater
  11. Take more photos with my Canon Rebel XTi
  12. Travel outside of Michigan/Ohio/Indiana/Illinois/Ontario
  13. Go to Chicago for a weekend with Joel (and others, if possible).
  14. Go to the Binder Park and/or Detroit Zoo because I love zoos
  15. Read at least one book per month.
  16. Start graduate school
  17. Be better at school than I was before (i.e. don't procrastinate... as much)
  18. Take a moment daily to be thankful
  19. Lose 40 pounds
  20. Plan an appropriate budget that allows for saving
  21. Eat 5 fruits/veggies every day
  22. Paint something
  23. Make the ladder shelf with Joel.
  24. Spend time with just my girlfriends at least once per month
  25. Tell my favorite people I love them more.
That's all! Some of them are pretty large undertakings. But I have a lot of support, and more drive than I have in years. :)  Having these goals actually makes me feel excited to be 25!

  1. Yeah, number 15 is probably the least likely to happen. But thanks!
